New Charging Station Grant Cycle

New Announcement:
The RAQC and Colorado Energy Office have opened the Charge Ahead Colorado Grant Application for electric vehicles (EV) and electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) funding. The next deadline to apply is Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 5:00 PM MST.

We have been invited to help the Colorado Energy Office figure out strategic locations for EVSE. I told them we have broad representation along the Front Range and so would submit a recommended list. I think there are two broad areas – one is public venues or heavily trafficked locations – Pepsi Center, downtown Ft. Collins, etc. The other is workplace. below is a list of large employers in Boulder who I am checking.

Can you respond here or by email with suggested locations

? I think the first 3 or 4 locations in your daily life that come to mind would be a good start. We will follow up with possible endorsements from EVOC for particular places.

Largest Boulder employers:
• Ball Aerospace
• Boulder Community Hospital
• Boulder County
• Boulder Valley School District
• City of Boulder
• Covidien
• Micro Motion/Emerson
• UCAR/NCAR (have received funding in last cycle)
• University of Colorado Boulder (have one or two stations only)

More Drive Electric News

Boulder event drew 14 different EV’s to the demo area, with several EVOC members. Also several dealers for test drives. Lots of foot traffic, several elected officials. Three different charging station vendors, to whom I’ve offered our (moral) support in their sales efforts (stay tuned). Here’s the Boulder TV channel video with coverage of our participation:

Di Graski, our volunteer in Colorado Springs (thanks Di!), reports:

We had a good turn out in Colorado Springs yesterday: Volts, Teslas, Leafs, a Coda, a Mitsubishi, two Zero motorcycles, and some new hybrid models (a Cadillac and a Porsche).

Activity 2 – Drive Electric Week – Event in Boulder

Wanted to let everyone know about the Boulder event. There are events also in Denver, Highlands Ranch, C Springs and Longmont. I will post more as soon as i have details. the details for Boulder are in the attached flyer

Driving Change flyer Boulder

the event will be Wednesday September 17, from 4 – 7:00 pm, co-located with the Boulder Farmers’ Market. This is a great opportunity to get the word out, and I will be handing out EVOC literature, showing off my Volt (35,000 miles, 175 mpg), and generally helping out.

Local EV owners are welcome to help out by just parking their vehicles for a couple hours and answering questions about your experience. As an incentive, I’m buying dinner at one of the food stands for any who can help out. Please let me know soon if it’s at least an option for you.

There will be a similar offer to show vehicles at other statewide events, as soon as I know details.
